Mauthausen
Mauthausen was used to
exterminate the educated
members of higher social
classes through forced labor.
There were also a large number
of prisoners of war, mostly
Soviet officers. It was declared
a memorial site in 1975.
Now for a sobering visit to Mauthausen
Concetration Camp in Austria. It was the
last camp to be closed after WWII.
These are called the "Stairs of
Death". Prisoners were forced to
walk up these steps carrying
heavy stones from the quarry.
